This Privacy Notice explains how Macro Tech Ventures Sdn. Bhd., trading as Borong / Salaam Market (“we”, “us”, “our”) collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your personal data when you access or use our websites, mobile applications and related services in Singapore (the “Platform”).

We are committed to protecting your personal data in compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act 2012 of Singapore (“PDPA”).

  1. This Notice sets out:
    1. the types of personal data we may collect about you;
    2. how we use your personal data and the legal basis for doing so;
    3. who we disclose your personal data to;
    4. your rights under the PDPA and how to exercise them; and
    5. how we protect your personal data and manage cross-border transfers.

    By accessing or using the Platform, you are deemed to have acknowledged and consented to the practices described in this Notice. If you do not agree, you should discontinue use of the Platform.

  2. Depending on your interactions with us, we may collect the following categories of personal data:
    1. identification data: name, or other government-issued identifiers (where required by law);
    2. contact details: business or residential address, email address and mobile/telephone number;
    3. financial data: bank account details, credit card information or payment details;
    4. business information: company registration numbers, licences and authorisations;
    5. transaction data: records of orders, invoices and payment history; and
    6. technical data: IP address, browser type, cookies and device identifiers.

    We will only collect personal data that is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in Section 3 below.

  3. We may collect, use and disclose your personal data for the following purposes:
    1. account onboarding and verification – to verify your identity, set up accounts, conduct credit checks and meet due diligence obligations;
    2. provision of services – to process orders, facilitate payments, arrange deliveries and provide access to credit or financing programmes;
    3. customer support and communication – (to respond to queries, feedback and disputes).
    4. business operations – (to maintain business records, conduct audits, comply with regulatory requirements and manage risk).
    5. research and improvement – (to conduct surveys, market analysis and improve the Platform).
    6. marketing and promotions – (where you have provided express consent, to send you information about our products, services and promotions, including those offered with our partners).
    7. legal compliance – (to comply with applicable laws, regulations, and lawful requests by regulators or law enforcement).

    We will not use your personal data for purposes beyond those notified to you, unless required or permitted by law.

  4. We may obtain personal data directly from you through registration forms, contracts or communications with us. We also collect data automatically through your use of the Platform, for example via cookies and device identifiers. In some cases we receive personal data from third parties such as credit reference agencies, financial institutions, logistics partners or publicly available sources where you have consented or where permitted by law.
  5. We may disclose your personal data to our related companies and affiliates involved in providing services through the Platform. We also share data with sellers, buyers, financiers and logistics providers where necessary for transactions you initiate. In addition, we may disclose data to payment processors, IT vendors and professional advisers acting on our behalf, to regulators, government authorities or law enforcement where required under law, and to credit bureaus such as Credit Bureau Singapore for credit assessment and monitoring. We require all third parties to protect your personal data in a manner consistent with the PDPA.
  6. Where your personal data is transferred out of Singapore, for example to our servers or affiliates in Malaysia, we will ensure that a comparable standard of protection is provided as required under the PDPA. Measures may include contractual clauses, technical safeguards and due diligence of recipient entities.
  7. We adopt reasonable administrative, technical and physical measures to safeguard your personal data against unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction. These measures include encryption of data in transit and at rest, access controls and secure storage.
  8. We will retain your personal data only for as long as necessary to fulfil the purposes for which it was collected or as required by law. When the data is no longer needed, we will securely delete, anonymise or destroy it.
  9. You have the right to access your personal data held by us, to correct or update personal data that is inaccurate or incomplete, and to withdraw consent to our collection, use or disclosure of your personal data subject to legal or contractual restrictions. You may also opt out of receiving marketing messages by contacting us at support@salaammarketmy.com. We will respond to your request within a reasonable time, generally within 30 days subject to applicable exemptions and a reasonable fee where permitted.
  10. We use cookies and similar technologies to improve your browsing experience, analyse site traffic and customise content. Essential cookies are necessary for the functioning of our website and do not require consent. Non-essential cookies, for example for analytics or advertising, will only be used with your consent. You may manage cookie preferences through your browser settings.
  11. We may update this Notice from time to time. The latest version will always be posted on our website and will supersede earlier versions. Users are advised to review this page periodically for updates.
